St. Francis - a Thanksgiving lesson

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, I spent some time on R&R at a quiet little place called St Francis Bradley Center. Sometimes even I get over stressed. It was a very positive experience though. I got the chance to meet some really special, and wonderful people from all walks of life. From the nursing staff, food prep workers, maintenance personal, security, and all the tired souls who were my fellow "group" of travelers seeking rest and recovery. I found out very amazing things about each and every person I spoke to which was nearly everyone. A couple of exceptions were those who could not, or for whatever reason would not talk. I have retained information on several new friends, and look forward to speaking to each one of them again once they have had enough healing. Hopefully, one or two of them will share (or allow me to share) their stories. They were all very inspiring to me.

Life can change on you quickly even when things are at their best. Use your time wisely. You can even learn, or help others heal even when you are not at the top of your day.

According to my research: Saint Francis of Assisi was an Italian mystic, poet, and Catholic friar who founded the religious order of the Franciscans. He lived in the 13th century and is one of the most venerated figures in Christianity.
Francis was born into a wealthy family but abandoned a life of luxury to live a life of poverty and charity. He became a beggar and itinerant preacher, and his evangelical zeal, consecration to poverty, and personal charisma drew thousands of followers. He founded the Franciscan orders of the Friars Minor and the Poor Clares, as well as the lay Third Order.
Francis is also known for his love of nature and animals. He is the patron saint of ecologists and is often depicted with animals, such as birds and rabbits. He is also the patron saint of Italy and the namesake of the city of San Francisco.
